Speech-Language Pathologists

Parent-Teacher Meeting

Speech-language pathologists often encounter complex questions when working with individuals who stutter, particularly when balancing evidence-based practice with the real-life experiences of clients and families. At the Coleman Stuttering Center, we are committed to supporting SLPs through education, collaboration, mentorship, and clinical consultation focused specifically on stuttering and fluency disorders. Whether clinicians are new to working with stuttering or have years of experience, our goal is to provide practical, clinically relevant resources that help bridge the gap between research and everyday practice. We recognize that many clinicians receive limited formal training in stuttering during graduate school, and we strive to create a supportive environment where professionals can ask questions, strengthen clinical decision-making, and build confidence in treatment planning.

Our work with SLPs emphasizes a holistic, person-centered approach to assessment and intervention that extends beyond speech fluency alone. We provide guidance related to differential diagnosis, counseling, school-based support, treatment planning across the lifespan, and the emotional and social impacts of stuttering. We also emphasize collaborative care models that support families, educators, and interdisciplinary teams. Through presentations, consultations, resources, and ongoing professional collaboration, the Coleman Stuttering Center aims to help clinicians feel more prepared to support children, teens, and adults who stutter in meaningful and empowering ways.
